Neighborhood Resource Center Hosts “Got Trees” March 10
Long Beach residents are invited to learn about street trees in their neighborhood at a "Got Trees?" workshop on Wednesday, March 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Neighborhood Resource Center, 425 Atlantic Ave. Panelists include Jerry Rowland from the Long Beach Department of Public Works, Jim Osgood from the Long Beach Neighborhood Services Bureau and John Nimmons from the Long Beach Unified School District. League Of Women Voters Candidate Forum March 10
The Junior League of Long Beach and the Long Beach Area League of Women Voters present a candidate's forum for the primary election of citywide offices from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, at the Grand Long Beach Event Center, 4101 E. Long Beach City Council Meets March 9
The Long Beach City Council meets at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9 in the council chambers, 333 W. Ocean Blvd. The council will come back to the impending medical marijuana and lobbyist ordinances, as well as discuss making councilmembers' calendars public and declaring April 17 as C-17 Day. Industry Resources Committee Meets March 9

Marine Terminal Training Program To Start March 10
A new training program designed for front-line managers and others interested in marine terminal operations will start at Cal State University, Long Beach. The Marine Terminal Operations Professional (MTOP) program will focus on preparing students with a range of essential skills and will be run through CSULB’s College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE), addressing a need for professional training.

Community Celebration For New Police Chief March 13
Residents are invited to attend a community celebration to watch Jim McDonnell be sworn in as chief of police for the Long Beach Police Department at 10 a.m. this Saturday, March 13, at the Terrace Theater in the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, 300 E.
